A set of precautions for a new mold, what processes are required, and what technical requirements are there. Maybe every design and company has its own set. However, when designing and debugging without rich experience, there will always be problems of one kind or another.

It will be more reasonable to focus on the following key points in the relatively perfect design and mold trial process. It is also suitable for all stages and different types of mold design, as follows:

1、 Don’t rush to paint when you get the product. It is necessary to understand the product structure, the dimensional accuracy requirements of the product, the type of product materials, whether there is a clear stamping direction, and the number of products.

2、 When preparing to arrange the process, it is better to use simulation analysis software such as AF or DF for analysis, so as to obtain specific parameters for communication with customers, and understand the process rationality of products before mold opening to reduce the mold trial cycle. (Note: If the customer has opened similar molds before, it is better to have drawings for reference)

3、 In the design of automobile die, the floating material structure must be given priority in the design essentials of continuous die, and the smoothness must be ensured. Because auto parts are generally large and thick, the material belt will be heavy. If the final material belt cannot float due to improper consideration, it will be a fatal problem.

4、 When the dimension of the product has special requirements or the tolerance level is high, the mold structure to complete this process shall be made into movable and adjustable type as far as possible to facilitate the displacement during subsequent mold testing.

5、 In order to ensure uniform stress and elastic force, the elastic elements in automobile dies generally use nitrogen springs. However, the number of springs needs to be discharged according to the value of pressing force of CAE analysis.

The spring arrangement in the mold is too dense, so the product is easy to crack, and the tonnage of the press also needs to be increased accordingly. If the spring is too small, the product is easy to wrinkle.

6、 When the mold design stage is completed and processed, mold closing commissioning is required. The first die closing of the die test fitter needs to pay special attention to the upper and lower die closing speed, especially when there is a drawing process. It is necessary to put a fuse to detect the height of the material thickness, and then load the material after ensuring that the height is equal to the material thickness.

7、 Note that when the product is tested, the reference hole and the reference plane of the part must be completely consistent with the mold surface before the product can be put on the testing machine to test the size or sent to the CMM for 3D report, otherwise such testing will be meaningless.

8、 When closing the mold, it is required to ensure that the mold fitting rate of red lead detection is more than 80% before opening the shear and making the CMM report. In special cases, such as the matching between the reference hole and the reference plane is very good, and the product has been printed stably, the fitting rate can be appropriately reduced. However, red lead detection must be done, otherwise it is difficult to solve problems in the later stage of mold trial.

9、 Proofing specification: use laser tape to get the shape → forming proofing → meet 100% customer requirements. Before starting the laser material belt, the mold structure must be adjusted to ensure that the product is stable and the dimensional tolerance is qualified, otherwise it is meaningless. (Line cutting of material belt is also allowed)

10、 For very complex products, 3D laser products are required. Before 3D laser, the 3D map of the product must be completed, and the laser must be sent after positioning in the form of CNC dot, and the laser also needs to be positioned with sand mold.

There is no uniform standard and specification for new mold from mold opening to mold trial process, and most of them are self exploration and gradual improvement. Therefore, it is of great benefit to pay more attention to other people’s technology.
